BRIEF HISTORY OF HEALING TOUCH 

The Healing Touch Program was developed by the late Janet Mentgen, RN, BSN, who practiced energy based care since 1980 in Denver, Colorado.  HT was first offered as a pilot project at the University of Tennessee and in Gainesville, Florida in 1989.  It became a certificate program of the American Holistic Nurses Association in 1990 with 25 programs offered across the USA that year.  Certification of HT practitioners and instructors began in 1993.  The program now has more than 2000 practitioners and 200 instructors around the world.

Healing Touch can be used as an adjunct to traditional medical care and is not intended to be used in place of the regular care of a physician.
